Lake Rawok and Lhegu Glacier in the South East of Tibet

Rawok comes from the Chinese ranwu (然乌), which is a small village, at least it used to be 9 years ago. And I stayed there at this beautiful lake(Lake Rawok), which is at an altitude of about 3,850 m. The lake has about 22,000 m² and  the Lhegu Glacier fills it with thaw water. Also the Parlung Tsangpo fills and drains the lake; it is a tributary of the Yarlung Tsangpo, a river that becomes the Brahmaputra later on.

Rawok is located on highway 318 and you have to drive about 30 km to the glacier, which is worthwhile the trip. You can take a walk to the glacier. If you want to go beyond the dirty part of the glacier you need equipment (and a guide).
