I went
to a post office as I had a load of postcards, which still haven’t arrived. At
the post office I saw a strange poster telling us, what shouldn’t be posted in
Iran; (ممنوعات پستی) is forbidden mail. You might
remember the poster with things that shouldn’t be thrown into the toilet in
Central Asia. It’s the same with this poster.
There
are a couple of things I would never even consider to be put into mail like a
gun. Maybe the US National Rifle
Association would think it good practice, but I do not. Or think
about the idea of sending explosives or radioactive material by mail –
incredible that one has to tell people not to do so. Fashion and fashion videos
– I guess it stands for pornography. Rawhide, ups no raw hide is prohibited as
well as fresh animals products.
You
shouldn’t send handmade books and archeological artifacts by mail. No dice and playing
cards – I forgot that I shouldn’t take these to Iran, but as I didn’t do so
anyway, I wasn’t trying to send playing cards by mail. Oh, and no oxygen; I remember
an experience at Lhasa airport. My suitcase was returned as some inexperienced
security officer thought my razor foam could be an oxygen container.
