Haiku for National Haiku Writing Month – March 2024 Scond Half

 

National Haiku Writing Month has been founded by the well known haiku poet Michael Dylan Welch. The goal is to write at least one haiku a day. National Haiku Writing Month is in its 14th year. 清瑟怨遙夜，繞弦風雨哀。
章台夜思。
韋莊。
In the distance a zither (Se) sighs through the night,
With the melancholy of wind and rain in the strings.
Night thoughts on the Zhang Terrace

off road
across the spring meadow
the kite above

old souls
all souls sold out
no new to come
~ Sold

moon light
on fresh fallen snow
no sound
~ Light

wind in the fir trees
the cracking of the roof beam
hello darkness
~ Darkness

too dark to read
too bright to sleep
just thinking
~ Darkness

the cradle
full of sweet slumber
so short the time
~ Sleep

after sunset
the candles flicker brighter
in our hearts

rugged mountains
reflected in the lake
let's cast a stone

fresh buds
and some withered leaves
advantage spring
~ Leaves

dying flowers
on the grave
still bowing their heads

green fir forests
and creeping ivy
sing songs of home

Barney picking up
a dead dove from the ditch
so close to mourning

living
isn't just waiting for

whether
rollator or wheelchair
be a rolling stone

I wink an eye
retirement perk

near spring
more daytime

still upright
standing in a puddle
a weeping snowman

the rain outside
just stopping
your silence, too

[3] Wei Zhuang (韋莊) lived in the transition period of the Tang Dynasty to the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period; 836-910 is often given, but 851-909 can also be found. Two of his poems are in the collection 300 Poems of the Tang Period (唐詩三百首). The Zhang Terrace belonged to a palace that some believe to be in Hubei and others in Shaanxi. The Se is a large zither, about the size of a xylophone. His work consists of 20 volumes; his younger brother had edited five volumes of poetry.
