Kashgar (喀什) has come into the news (see below)
and I’d like to share a couple of pictures. I’ve been travelling there about 9
years ago coming and going back to Pakistan via Tashkurgan (塔什库尔干).
The Bank of China is in the middle of Kashgar and old buildings had been sacrificed.
Only the markets for everyday goods are near the town center.
The beast market has been moved to the periphery.
That's the Id Kah Mosque, the largest mosque in China, which cannot be removed from the heart of the city.
