Narthang Monastery

Narthang monastery – don’t just start to sigh: Oh, another Tibetan monastery! We had the good luck to go there because of landslides and flooded roads. We couldn’t visit some other point and instead went to Narthang monastery – sheer good luck. Why? I’ll tell you in a moment.
Narthang monastery (纳塘寺) lies 15 km west of Shigatse. It is the oldest of the three great printing centers. We could watch the printing with woodblocks. A really speedy affair.
And later the monks allowed the tourists to watch their praying and chanting. One of the very young disciples was beating the drum.
