Carpe Diem Haiku Bed Bugs (watamushi)

Warm, sleepy inside
Wind’s howling is damped
Bed bug scratches its leg

Kafka’s man before the law
Couldn’t pass the gatekeeper
But talked to his lice

The pilgrim’s progress
Round after round at the Jokhang
The lice pray, too

This group of nuns and monks measure the distance between Lhasa and their monastaries by prostrating themselves. They been doing this for 9 months already.

Actually I doubt that modern pilgrims have problems with lice. But formerly they wouldn't kill the lice because of metta.

  1. Wow! What a wonderful set of haiku Lothar, bed bugs aren't my favorite 'beasts', but you make them almost lovely.
Wonderful pictures. Are you a Buddhist?
