A Winter's Pale – Haiku

木落雁南渡,
北風江上寒。
早寒江上有懷
孟浩然
Bared trees and the wild geese fly southwards,
The northwind blows cold onto the river.
Remembering the first cold on the river
Meng Hao Ran

decaying leaves
and fading colors
autumn is leaving

snow crystals
around the pond
silent ducks

late in the year
snow on the pine trees
sun in her arms

old cards past christmas
the dead do not write anymore
the young are silent

first snow
on the monastery bell
perfect zazen

the children play
dark patches on the snow
and silver voices

no harsh winter yet
if you can't walk on water
do not try the ice

Meng Hao Ran (孟浩然) lived about 689/691-740. The anthology „Three Hundred Tang Poems“ shows 15 of his poems. His main topic in poetry and painting has been nature. In this way he has been influential to later poets and painters.
To solve a riddle -: A Winter's Tale by Queen and A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum.
