Late Autumn – Haiku

空山不見人,但聞人語響。
返景入深林,復照青苔上。

No one to be seen in the lonely mountains
But I think I hear a voice.
Sunbeams penetrate deep into the forest,
Reflected by a mossy green cliff.
Game fence
by Wang Wei

the gnarled cherry tree
dreaming all winter
of rosy blossoms

biting frost
quicker steps
in first snow

fresh snow
preserving the deer’s spoor
just for a while

winter arrives
with some dying
save the snowman

cold blue sky is
but in the yellow sun
red persimmons gleam

in the barn
snuggling together
the scarecrows

mackerel sky
black silhouettes of seagulls
and the surf

december sun
shuffling through fallen leaves
happy puppy

smell of snow
hoar frost on the ivy
some flies and bees though

let’s contribute
to the beauty of a failure
with a new start

Wang Wei is a Tang Dynasty poet (and famous painter) who lived from about 699/701 to 759/761. 29 of his poems can be found in the compilation 300 Poems of the Tang-Dynasty.
