We had our regular afternoon tea break at Menjil (منجيل). You might ask: What's so
interesting in Manjil? Not very much. A small town with lots of unfinished
houses, which still might be due to the devastating earthquake in the region in
1990. And lots of wind. Yes it's the wind. I nearly had been thrown off my feet
because of the wind.
I haven’t seen much wind power plants elsewhere, but here in Manjil
right next to town (Manjil and Rudbar Wind Farm). The steady wind seems to be a
good reason to establish wind power generating electricity even in the country
with the biggest oil resources (Iran leads with nearly 160,000 billion barrels compared
to the US [7th largest] with about 40,000 billion barrels).
PS. Please excuse the bad quality of the pictures, some of which I had to shoot out of the running bus. The last picture BTW isn't from Manjil but near to Tabriz (تبريز).
