A Vegetarian in Tajikistan

For a vegetarian Tajikistan is a nightmare. There is no concept of cooking a meal without meat. They eat veggies, but they mix the dish with meat. Else they think, it would be "food without food". In one restaurant they prepared pasta and meat separately, but would not serve the noodles without meat. So Tajikistan is one of the last strongholds for meat eaters. I liked loosing a few kilos, but not the way.

An outdoor restaurant with really a nice ambiente, but I could only get potatoes and bread, tea and most (cooked fruit juice)

A roadside stall with dried apricots and walnuts

The markets were abundand in fruits and veggies

A cool stream in the mountains cooling soft drinks and milk
