Haiku for National Haiku Writing Month – January 2025 First Half

National Haiku Writing Month has been founded by the well known haiku poet Michael Dylan Welch. The goal is to write at least one haiku a day. National Haiku Writing Month is in its 14th year. [1] I enjoy writing to the prompts on Facebook. Here are some interesting links: [2]. Our daily writing prompter this month is Paul David Mena [3], prompting for us for the fifth time (previously in June 2011, March 2015, December 2020, and September 2022). Thanks a lot, Paul! It has already been fun using anagrams.

[4] Liu Changqing (
劉長卿) is a well-known poet of the Tang period. Eleven of his poems were included in the compilation 300 poems of the Tang period. And his poems were already well known during his lifetime. Six volumes of his poems were handed down in the compilation Complete Poems of the Tang Dynasty (全唐詩). He also has been governor of Suizhou. It is surprising that the dates of his life are very contradictory. The year of his birth is given as 709/710, but also 725, and he died between 785 and 790. I translated (qīng) as green, but it is a shade between blue and green. The confusion continues to this day, for example in Japan, where the traffic light phase is blue and not green to our eyes. There is a nice Quora discussion about : https://www.quora.com/In-Chinese-does-the-color-%E9%9D%92-mean-green-or-blue.
[5] Acutally if you don't want to dive into the ocean of Hare Krishna Consciousness, you don't need this book, but as I mentioned the title: Swami A. C. Bhaktivedanta: The Nectar of Devotion. Complete Science of Bhakti Yoga. Bhaktivedanta Book Trust, 1970. ISBN-10: ‎0912776056.
[6] Reminded me of  "Spoon" by the krautrock band Can. The song had been the signature theme of the popular German television thriller Das Messer (1971). Can played a free concert at Kölner Sporthalle in Cologne on February 3, 1972, which I naturally attended as distance had been only a mile from where I lived. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6PH7a4RptU
