Haiku for National Haiku Writing Month – January 2026 First Half

National Haiku Writing Month has been founded by the well known haiku poet Michael Dylan Welch. The goal is to write at least one haiku a day. National Haiku Writing Month is in its 14th year. [1] I enjoy writing to the prompts on Facebook. Here are some interesting links: [2]. Our prompter this month is Peggy Hall Bilbro [3]. She is doing for the 6th time. Thank you very much, Peggy!

[5] I saw the tip of Mt. Fuji (富士山) from the plane when leaving Japan 1975. The first picture is from 1992; I hiked with friends one or two days after the picture, but a snowstorm made us return early. The second picture is from 2013 out of the Shinkansen (新幹線) from Kyoto to Tokyo.
