Summer Rolling on – Haiku

 

白日依山盡，
黃河入海流。
欲窮千里目，
更上一層樓。
登鸛雀樓
王之渙
Still some white after the sun has set behind the mountains,
As the Yellow River flows into the sea.
To look a thousand li further
Just climb up one storey more.

Rainy again

The rainmaker packs

Flying with the flock

To pick red currants

The white sparrow

 

Bullet train

Passing Mt. Fuji

Stiffer breeze

Crickets and rain duelling

Until lightning strikes 

 

Moonlight

Fragrance of gillyflowers

We say nothing 

 

Straw bales

Scarecrows shrugging

Let it rain 

 

Wang Zhihuan (王之渙) lived 688–742, we even know the exact dat of his death - 25th of march. Only six of his poems survived the vicissitudes of time and this one has been selected for the compilation 300 Poems of the Tang Dynasty.
