Haiku for National Haiku Writing Month March 2023 Part 1

 



National Haiku Writing Month has been founded by the well known haiku poet Michael Dylan Welch. The goal is to write at least one haiku a day. National Haiku Writing Month is in its 13th year. [1]
I enjoy writing to the prompts on Facebook. These are haiku of the second half of March 2023 [2].


muddy road
walking barefoot
not in anyone's shoes
~ shoes

maybe π
is a hub
into eternity
~ pi

your pie
not calculated with pi
tastes so good
~ pie

opening eyes
after a short nap
suddenly spring
~ napping

sipping kir royal
and working on her tan
no, not my mom
~ mother

the towel failed
to save Ford Perfect
from Vogon poetry
~ towel

in between
tedious presentations
lunch in the lounge
~ lunch

snow covering
the chessboard in the park
both players checkmated
~ chess

still unsure
calling it lent or diet
eat something first
~ diet

ring-a-ding-ding
not my telephone
it's Anita Ward
~ telephone [3]

steam from the tea bowl
mingling with the mist
squirrels breakfast, too
~ breakfast

women of Taiwan
and the world day of prayer
constructing peace
~ construction

march ahead
blow your horns and pipes
I drum elsewhere
~ march

duck paddling
through the duckweed
oh, no, no soup today
~ soup

they don't write books
as they used to -
get used to it
~ book

the book at the station
full of dreams
placed, not forgotten
~ book

applause, applause
you walk the earth
and she doesn't notice
~ compliment
