Haiku for National Haiku Writing Month – 01.05.-15.05.2023

National Haiku Writing Month has been  founded by the well known haiku poet Michael Dylan Welch. The goal is to write at least one haiku a day. National Haiku Writing Month is in its 13th year. [1] I enjoy writing to the prompts on Facebook. Here are some interesting links: [2]. The prompter this month is Patty Hardin, prompting already for the 12th time!

於今腐草無螢火,
終古垂楊有暮鴉。

Now in the rotten grass there are no more fireflies,
But at sundown the crows still perch in the weeping-willows.

cat in the lab
one lap
into the lap

700 sheep
blocking the road
which one is Dolly

I cannot forget
ma chère Pipette
I'm still in love

molesting my moleskine
with the sketch
of yet another molecule

the scope of a haiku –
the world under a microscope

matter plus anti-matter
doesn't matter
armageddon guaranteed

an old hypothesis plus SF
makes a conspiracy theory

if red roses
and the woman I love
~ near a hypothesis

the final countdown
the day's final experiment
wham! [4]

the professor is laughing
acidly
holding a pH D.

changing the soil of the hydrangeas
their petals are brown, now

walking to the gym
through Bunsen St.
never thought of his burner

in the whole universe
no atom feels
at home

agent 99
the secret reagent
for max...art

spring morning
the monk's cell still dark
still meditating

into the beaker
end of the day experiment
until it breaks

[3] Li Shangyin (
李商隱) lived from about 813 until about 858. 24 of his poems have been included in the compilation 300 Poems of the Tang-Period. The English Wikipedia article inform us, that „in 1968, Roger Waters of the rock band Pink Floyd borrowed lines from his poetry to create the lyrics for the song "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" from the band's second album A Saucerful of Secrets.“ [3a] Even if one doesn't Chinese, the length and richness in detail of the Chinese article on Wikipedia speaks of the significance of this poet.
