Summerheat - Haiku

“The crickets felt it was their duty to warn everybody
that summertime cannot last for ever.”
E.B. White

Merciless sun
On the withering grass
Still crickets sing

No gas supply
Rescue ship on the Mediterranean
Adrift

Blue sky
Covering with rainclouds
Still the grass withers

In the stroke unit
Caramel candy and teeth
On the bedside table

Behind leaves
Crows debating
Not minding the cat

A yellow leaf
On the green meadow
Yet summer party

Drought season
The rainmaker unpacks
His equipment

The white sparrow
Flying with the flock
Red currants

Bullet train
Passing Mt. Fuji
Back to the notebook

Stiffer breeze
Crickets and rain duelling
Until lightning strikes

Moonlight
Fragrance of gillyflowers
We say nothing
